The Rebbe from Tekoah: The Life of Rabbi Menachem Froman [Hebrew]

Rabbi Menachem Froman (1945–2013), the rabbi of the West Bank settlement of Tekoa, was one of the most original and paradoxical figures in Israeli public life. A graduate of Mercaz Harav Yeshiva in Jerusalem and a member of the leadership of the Gush Emunim movement, he opposed the evacuation of settlements while simultaneously promoting religiously grounded visions of peace and cultivating ties with Palestinian leaders, including leaders of Hamas. Based on letters, recordings, interviews, and previously unpublished archival materials, this book presents the first comprehensive account of Froman’s life and thought, portraying a rabbi, poet, and public intellectual who sought unexpected connections between religion, nationalism, and reconciliation in contemporary Israel.
