The program, established and led by Prof. Vered Noam, is aimed at PhD candidates and post-doctorate researchers residing in Israel during the 2026/2027 academic year. Scriptorium brings together emerging scholars from abroad who are conducting research in Israel, forming a vibrant and inquisitive academic community.

Scriptorium participants also receive:

·     Official affiliation with the National Library of Israel

·     A number of benefits reserved for researchers, including access to the researchers-only area in the NLI Ilona and Hugo Lowy Reading Halls

·     The opportunity to work in proximity to the NLI’s unparalleled collections

·     Personal consultations with Library staff (curators and librarians)

·     Regular seminars for presenting and discussing research

·     A one-time grant of $2000 Candidates must be physically present in Israel for at least one of the two semesters in the 2026/27 academic year. Their research area must relate to the NLI’s five core collections (Judaica, Israel, Islam and the Middle East, music, and general humanities).
