The Department of Religious Studies in Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences at Southern Methodist University invites applications for a non-tenure-track position in Jewish Studies at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. The position requires residency in Dallas beginning August 1, 2027. The position is renewable after three and/or five years with the possibility of promotion. The teaching load is three classes in each of the fall and the spring semesters. 

Minimum Qualifications:  Ph.D. or ABD in Jewish Studies or related field. Ability to teach undergraduate courses, both introductory and advanced, on a wide range of topics in Jewish Studies and direct the Jewish Studies program (currently a minor). 

Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in hand by the time of appointment. Expertise in some facet of Judaism/Jewish life. Competence to teach an introductory course in Jewish Studies as well as upper-level classes in Jewish history, culture, experience, religion, etc. Ability to direct a Jewish Studies minor in the department and perform relevant administrative duties including course scheduling, recruiting, advising minors, and event programming. Capacity to contribute to the Graduate Program in Religious Studies.
