UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA LECTURER IN MODERN HEBREW
The Bud Shorstein Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Florida, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for a Lecturer in Hebrew language instruction, beginning August 16, 2025. The position is a full-time, nine-month, renewable, non-tenure-accruing appointment at the rank of Lecturer, with an opportunity for advancement in UF’s Lecturer/Instructional Professor track.
The successful candidate will lead the Hebrew program in the Bud Shorstein Center for Jewish Studies, which has a major and a minor program in Hebrew language and an undergraduate certificate program in Israel Studies. Teaching duties will include three courses per semester (fall and spring) including the one-year Beginning Hebrew sequence, the one-year Intermediate Hebrew sequence, and possibly courses on Israel conducted in Hebrew each semester. Administrative duties will consist of student recruitment for the Hebrew program, the administering of language placement evaluations to see where incoming students should start, and the advising of Hebrew major and minors.
